I actually saw one about this size in Louisiana 52 years ago. Fellows brought it in along with others all caught in a gill net. I don't even know if Louisiana was even keeping records on gar then and I know these fellows didn't weigh it cause they started processing it right there.

Seems nothing is safe anymore.

Meat and tators for sup. Had to have the tators as it is national potatoe day.

New phrase got entered into dictionary. Tradwife. Yep, it is what most of us wanted and some got. A wife that takes care of kids and house. Mine did a purty good job of that.

Getting tired of this heat and humidity. 2 showers a day seems odd. Weekend suposed to be livable. Have tendency to hibernate away from crazies on weekends. Means might have to work around house again.

Had fog this morn. 90 days from now may push snow. November 17. Sounds bout right.

My first wife was a career gal, she said she loved teaching so much she was never gonna quit. Her retirement plan was to open a private school for kids that couldn't afford private school. When she got too ill to work she took in kids on our ridge and guided their parents through home schooling. Some of those young'uns were behind by a year or two but managed to catch up in the two years she did this.
My last wife is a tradwife and she is a dandy! :D Can't brag on her enough!

4 hours of 50% chance of rain yesterday, I got drops. Waiting to see what we get today.
Got a 40# box of wheel weight ingots ready to be mailed, wait until Monday.
Got 40# of lead sheets cut and packed in a box. Waiting on the first order to be delivered before asking if he wants more.
Hot dogs for dinner, will have to go to KFC for slaw. Like eating rubber to me, see what else I can find.

The heat and humidity finally broke, first day in several we haven't broken 90*, the weather speculators indicate it is going to cool off even more the next several days.
One of our ponds has a 10x24 dock, I can't recall the year it was built for sure but would have been 1999 or 2000. Admittedly we (I) didn't take proper care of it only applying weather treatment a couple times. The 5/4 deck boards were showing sever weathering, a couple days ago the SNL broke through one. Today, taking advantage of the cooler weather I started replacing the deck boards. I can't work bent over or on my knees so I kind of scoot along on my butt. Well, enough scooting worked my wallet out of my back pocket and off the edge of the dock. When I first seen it floating, I couldn't figure what it was but about the time I did it was starting to sink rapidly. I made a dive for it (more likely a belly flop) and saved it from sinking but completely forgot about my cell holstered on my belt. I think the holster protected it a bit as it is still functioning just have to see if it still is tomorrow. Oh! not sure how prices are nationwide but here in southern IL. it's going to be about $500 for deck boards and screws, pretty sure that is as much or maybe more than it cost to build the entire dock originally.
The cooler temps. have me planning to be in the woods first light tomorrow, squirrel, biscuits & gravy and fried taters for breakfast Fri.

With those in your backyard there is no need for a foam deer to practice shots. Just shoot, skin, shut up.

Seems birds are migrating already. Only 1 or 2 orieols have been by. Finches left 3 weeks ago. Robins not in yard either. Very few sparrows at bird feeder.

Hot again today they say. 90 and 70 plus dew. Then might cool down for a couple days. That means will have to work around house again.

WG says it will be 10 degrees cooler today than yesterday. See what I can get done outdoors. Need to raise mower deck one more notch and cut about 20 sq ft of tall grass at curb. Got a few drops of rain yesterday.
I drove to the east side of Southaven for 100 pounds of Xray sheet lead. Not as cheap as I can get it at the scrapyard, but it was clean and fresh.
Jason got to come home yesterday. He has to be at the hospital between 9 and 11 am for the next 73 days for an infusion. He's walking a bit better with Debbie's walker.
I stopped the code enforcement lady this morning. Asked her about these people that blow their grass clippings in the street. It's a curb appeal rule. She has to catch them doing it to write them up. I've got her cell phone number now.
David had his girlfriend's SUV sitting in the side yard for 2 weeks. Moved to the carport for a month. Now in the backyard on the dirt for 3 days. It's wrecked on the frontend. City code rules: must be on a slab and drivable. Getting a lot of cars needing work parked around here.

My second crop of Figs started producing ripe figs yesterday.

For the second night in a row, I slept for ten hours each night, WOW.

The Squad start's talking to me when I first get up in the morning, I say, I don't know what you said because I don't have my aids in, she looks at me with disgust, ISYN.

Same here with the hearing aids, I tell my wife I am taking them out and she still talks up a storm and I can't understand a thing she is saying. lol I had to go back and use my old hearing aids, the VA just will not admit that these newer ones are defective. I even paid out of pocket for an outside the VA hearing doctor to check them out, they are worse now than before. It sounds like who ever is talking is inside a barrel about 100 feet away. Oh well such is life.

Mac, my sister loved figs, but for some reason I don't like them at all. She took some strawberry jello mix and mixed with some ripe figs and made jam, I am not kidding, that tasted like the best strawberry jam I ever ate.
