Got 4 pant legs stitched yesterday. Will apply liquid stitch today.
Shopped at 5 stores yesterday, bought 1 or few items at each.
Got another 1 3/4" of rain in the bucket, checked at 1:30 pm, more rain at dark. Just checked, 3/4". High today will be 80, may mow some of the front yard after picking up limbs.
Checked grocery ads, not much they want to sell me.
Tried chili dogs with Wendy's chili, pretty good. That stuff is $5 per can at Kroger. $4 at Wendy's for the large cup, about 16 oz. Got slaw at KFC.

Speaking of hot dogs, I love to slice the hot dogs long ways, fry good and brown, or a little black. Put two of them on a good hamburger bun with good coleslaw and mustard, and that is some fine eating right there.
I do the same, plus I use white bread with onions, slaw and mustard.

Really nice day on the farm today, still just a bit wet for shelling corn but they should be able to go tomorrow, at least on my place.
I used to hate chickens, from the constant peeping when we got them in the spring to having to feed and water them every day and clean the pen about every two weeks, then came butchering day, not just one or two but 40-50 birds, the adult women done the cutting up but us kids were Plucker's not a pleasant chore and the smell of hot wet feathers is like hog, once you smell it you will never forget it. Fast forward 60 some years and the wife decided she wanted chickens so we have chickens, I actually kind of enjoy watching them chasing bugs and each other now, find it kind of relaxing.
The snake road in southern IL. I guess they have their place in the environment, but I have never met one I liked. If I were king of the world instead of closing the road we would detour traffic from I-64, 57,, and 24 right across it.

Sprayed part of yard for the pests. Not much luck. Ya walk thru grass and they follow you then attack.

Eyes, perch, whites are hitting good. Going Monday. Kinda scared of weekends before hunting starts. Gonna take my boat for a change. Then later in week we gotta hit river for flats.

These warm temps are prolonging the bite. One fella been still getting couple flats a night.

I had an encounter yesterday on the lake with the fishing guide that took me last year to the spot I was fishing in. He was upset that I was in the spot he needed to be in for his clients ("his office" he said), and that he spent lots of money bating that hole, and that now he couldn't use it today. I nodded and gave him a thumbs up while he rambled, then he just sped off. I kinda understood where he was coming from... for a minute. Then it went away and I just kept fishing. I'll definitely be back too, 'cause I've spent a few bucks myself chumming that hole.

My good buddy, Rawhide (Sam Newman) died on Sept. 13, 2025. He and I were both born in the year 1938. He was the only one I talked to on my cell phone; reckon now I can cancel it out.
