I am going to be in the overland park area over the weekend and curious if there is any where some what close to try for skipjack. I have read about people using them but not catching them. Thanks for any info.

There are no skipjacks in the KC area. The closest thing we have are goldeyes. You catch them in the rivers and at Milford reservoir.
I know where there are a bunch of skipjack in Overland Park. The catch is they are in my freezer 
Geoff is right, while I've caught a handful in my castnet over the years, this is not the place to look for skipjack. Most of the guys around here travel to Tennessee or Kentucky for them. IMO, they are a bit overrated as bait for this area, but it gives us something to do in the winter.
