Another hot day, not uncommon for July in south central IL but I don't seem to tolerate the heat like I used to.
Fell a big Elm tree in the yard yesterday, part of it was dead and the limbs on that part shattered like glass when it hit the ground making for a bigger chore cleaning up than the part that was still green. I struggled keeping my Sthil MS 290 running, would start then act like it was starving for fuel when I tried to get revs. I replaced the in-tank fuel filter, air filter and spark plug. It started and ran for a while then died. Frustrated I drove into town to see about buying a new saw, after pricing them I decided to try a different plan. Took it to my saw mechanic early this morning, he suspects the air vent check valve. He replaced it and seems to be running fine, that saved me about $1,000. Sthil chainsaws have really increased in price since I bought my last one 10 or so years ago. Oh well, the Elm is cut up brush hauled off and stump treated with Tordon RTU to prevent sprouting,
Guess I will do some spraying when the sun sets, weeds have been doing really well this year.
