One of my sisters lived in Lake Charles LA, I don't see how they cut grass down there. There are so many crawpaw mounds it is unreal in their yards. Trying to keep their houses from rottening was a big problem because of the constant high humidity and moisture. The graves are all on top of the ground, two or three feet down and you hit water.

Seen a couple flash floods in my travels. Once in the Death Valley area there came a 20+ft wall of water down a wash because it had rained 20 miles away. We heard it and saw the dust cloud coming. Pretty neat.

You build on a creek/river bank then I have no pity for your stupidity. You don't keep an eye on the weather then you are a idiot. A tornado can pop up out of just about any storm and go just about any which way but other than that major weather systems are ploted every day for you not to have plenty of milk and bread on hand.

On my microsoft news feed I got a story, can't find it now. 2 companies were hired to cloud seed in Texas. Both seeded the same area for some reason for the flood.
West clinic visit went well. Doctor happy about blood test results. CT for July 25th visit to see what cancer is doing. Started round 3 on the chemo pills. Can't take blood thinners while on chemo pills. Started back taking Carvedilol in the morning and Entresto in the evening. Stopped at 3 stores for Jumex pineapple drink, none in stock. Ordered a case of half gallons at Superlo. Hope they were delivered for today. Head there soon.
Stop at Harbor Freight for plastic dip for the shot dipper handles. Use copper straps around shell, folded the mount section together for a tight fit. Everbilt 1/2 in. Copper Tube Strap (5-Pack) C624HD12 - The Home Depot
Solder job looks pretty good for not craft soldering in 30 years and using a jet lighter.
Driving the back gravel roads of Desoto County I came upon a bridge that was an old aluminum flatbed rail car for trailers. I stopped on it, stepped out and jumped on it a few times, felt solid to me. Single lane bridge with no railing. All cropland beyond the bridge. Might be some heavy loads cross it at some time.

But, the wells are 500 to 600 feet deep? LOL.
Those are solitary mudbugs, diff from the pond bugs.

Thankfully I've never seen a flash flood. Living on the Ohio River I've seen it raise fast but you can crawl fast enough to get away from it. Never a wall of water.

In a previous career I was on the field crew for a wildlife consulting firm specializing in endangered bats. We had a project in Los Alamos, New Mexico in 1993 or 1994 and the locals did a very good job of warning us of the possibility of flash floods, how it could storm in the mountains, be dry as heck where you were, and all of a sudden a wall of water could appear. It kept us watching over our shoulder. It's also the only time in my life I've ever seen a mountain lion. Walking up a narrow ridge surveying for bat trap locations, I caught movement out of the corner of my eye and turned to see its hind quarter and tail go behind a pine and could hear rocks rolling as it went down the steep sidehill.

They have flash flood watch south of me. Down by Yankton to south of Sioux city. Storms havebeen steady that area.

Seemed like a bad day to drive in Sioux Falls. Couple rear ending accidents folks had on our way to kids appt. Then, on our way home kids called. When they were backing out of spot in driveway a pu hit and pushed the van into another car. Tail light smashed on thier van. What away to start trip taking gkuds back to Texas.

There was one piece of red lense and needed one bulb. Got some red spray paint and duct tape. Taped the lens piece on after painting back up part. Then painted the reguar tail light that was white. Tail gate bad etc. At least it still runs. Poor man enginuity.

Bad storms in my area for next couple days. At least local river running again. There was a drowning at dam at Flandrue over weekend. They just found the ladies body.

When In was 8 0r 9 dad was working across the river and me and my dog were fishing. All of a sudden the fish quit biting, could hear a roar south of me, it was hot and the sun was shining, Went back to the house, some time latter dad came home on the tractor the back way? He was at the river crossing when the bank full wall of water hit, logs and a deer on the front of the wall. He didn't know I made it till he got home. 13" of rain up the river, we got none.

My wife and I lived in Chile for a few years. One summer we went for a backpacking hike in the Andes. Set up our tent near a river not far off the road. As we settled in for the night we heard a low growl. It happened a couple times around the perimeter of the tent. Never saw him, but I don't think that cat liked us around.

SuperLo didn't get the Jumex pineapple on their delivery. Not marked as out of stock at warehouse. I bought all their pineapple/coconut drink. Checked the 2 mexican stores, none on the shelves.
Searched for plastic dip, black and red in spray cans. I can see that mess now. Got yellow dip instead.
Been a while since water fill the street in front of my house. The circle drive across from me would rise from heavy rain. Some of the kids would be waist deep 4 houses from me.
Head to Kroger soon, not much on their ad, Debbie needs cokes.

Another hot day, not uncommon for July in south central IL but I don't seem to tolerate the heat like I used to.
Fell a big Elm tree in the yard yesterday, part of it was dead and the limbs on that part shattered like glass when it hit the ground making for a bigger chore cleaning up than the part that was still green. I struggled keeping my Sthil MS 290 running, would start then act like it was starving for fuel when I tried to get revs. I replaced the in-tank fuel filter, air filter and spark plug. It started and ran for a while then died. Frustrated I drove into town to see about buying a new saw, after pricing them I decided to try a different plan. Took it to my saw mechanic early this morning, he suspects the air vent check valve. He replaced it and seems to be running fine, that saved me about $1,000. Sthil chainsaws have really increased in price since I bought my last one 10 or so years ago. Oh well, the Elm is cut up brush hauled off and stump treated with Tordon RTU to prevent sprouting,
Guess I will do some spraying when the sun sets, weeds have been doing really well this year.
