Is anybody using the mount that came in the box?

I had picked up a Ram mount, but I like the idea of the "docking station" type mount that will allow me to remove the unit when I am on the road somewhere. I think it will fit just fine on the top of my console which is just like the one below. I just wish it was not plastic.

What do you guys think?

Yes I mounted the supplied mount to my ram mount. I have the universal ram mount, so yours may be different? Works very well for me, still have the ability to position any direction I want and disconnect the unit for towing and store it when I get home.

So I contacted Garmin TS asking about being able to utilize the 800 KHZ frequency over the 455 and his exact words were "We only learned last week that the 800 KHZ could not be selected" I think that is why JLDean may be having issues marking fish and making them pop. The guy said that for my type of fishing that the 800 KHZ would probably be better for me. He also made mention that he has no idea if there will be a fix for this or not. I would like to find both structure AND fish, I kinda like the idea of fish popping out at me.

Yea I've been having problems identifying fish, ghought it was just me and the whole learning how to use it. A little disheartening if you ask me, since I/we could have went with the competition that's known to mark fish very well. Sigh....

Can you explain this in more detail?

I have not gotten out on the water yet with mine so I have not been able to use it. Are you saying the 800 khz band cannot be selected in the menu or is not physically (hardware) able to be utilized with these?

If it is a menu selectable issue I would think that would be an easy fix. If it is a hardware issue than the system needs to be recalled/replaced/refunded.

I agree. In simulator mode (not installed yet) my 7607xsv also did not give me the 800khz option in sidevu or downvu. I would think that could be fixed with a downloadable update.

I'm sure they will get it fixed over time...but it isn't a big deal to me...most reviews between the two state that most people prefer the 455 KHZ anyway. In 800 your coverage is much smaller too. Can only go out to the sides roughly 3 times the depth you are in and remained detailed anyway. 800 will have to be dialed down in sensitivity or it will be too bright, and you could actually lose date because it could be bled out with signals from brighter structures.
In my opinion...and it's only my opinion...the only time I would actually want 800 is if I were trying to look detailed into brush piles using downvu to find crappie. But, I'm not a crappie fisherman.
To me, a 2 inch smaller screen is more of a shorthanded feature than not having 800KHZ...run split screen for a little bit and see how many fish "pop" out and how much detail is there on those two 3.5" screens ....but to each his own.
To say 455khz will only find structure and not fish is Hilarius and FALSE lol...

So what is different about Lowrance and Humminbirds that they can pick up fish with no problem but people seem to be having issues picking up fish with the Garmin units? Maybe I was wrong to blame it on the 800 KHZ that at the time seemed to be the only common denominator? J_Carter have you been able to pick up fish on your Garmin unit, if so could you please post pics?

Everybody that are using Humminbird and Lowrance unit don't only find fish with the setting on 800khz is all I was getting at. A few of my screenshots have some fish in them, but my screenshots have been structure oriented mainly. I will start taking more fish shots, but I know it will show them. A few are below with some fish in them though. After the spawn these areas should be loaded again.
I still don't think I'm utilizing my sonar to the fullest though...still tinkering and testing each time I go out. To the folks that can't see any fish with the Garmin, have you adjusted the TVG setting, in accordance with the brightness and contrast?
Hell I just noticed that in all of my screen shots mine is on 260khz lol

Here are some fish off to the right as well as some suspended under the bait

Here is a biggun suspended

Here are a couple off to the left and a big school of butterbean shad

Here are a few fish to the right (on the bottom side of the stucture)

Ok, Big Dummy me, just realized the the 94sv, which I bought, comes with a saltwater 260khz/455khz transducer and not the freshwater 455khz/800khz anyway. Guess I better switch it to the 455 before I keep tinkering with the settings lol...Was going to buy another transducer for my pontoon (that I hardly use) down the road anyway. Looks like it would be best to put the saltwater one on it and get the right one for my main ride.

No its garbage you can not see catfish or fish period on side scan other than water column, 200khz 2d was garbage big nasty blobs no way to tell if it is a catfish. On my lowrance elite 7 cats were upside down commas bass thin long non strong arches. I am dialing my new HDS gen 3 will get it dialed in before to long. Garmin lied to me from the second day I got it, garmin tech said yes u can see fish and blobs on 2d is user error u need to do this move ducer here a total of no joke 38 logged calls at about the 45 day from purchase a tech talked to some designer told him this unit will never see fish on side vu and cats are to soft to read no scales. So after all that bs and Garmin lieing to me I tried to send it back the day I fount out and they wouldn't said past the 30days even though in notes it showed why I called and what day they would not honor it if I had new would have went back the 3rd day I got it. And no joke call customer service now ask about the 93sv say will you see fish on side vu they will say no and they reworded description of unit on there website. So yes do not in any way buy this pos its maps were excellent and user ability perfect but I bought a fish finder not a chartplotter only.. And Di looks non detailed at all it can't do what pics are on there website looks like a slightly more detailed 2d on di..
