Hello Hoosier Chris. Several Indiana boys on here. Are you partial to any particular lakes or rivers. I fish White River, the Ohio when I can and several reservoirs west of Indy.

I've almost exclusively fished the white river. Always been a bank fisherman. However i did just purchase an old 17 ft aluminum bass tracker with a 40 hp and am currently in the process of getting everything ordered to rig it up as a catfishing boat. Got my rod holders, rod rack, now my fish finder on the way. Really looking forward to learning more of the white river and when its too high for comfort, like it is right now, i've heard good things about monroe and I'd like to check out lake lemon too. Once I've become comfortable i'd love to make a trip to the ohio one day.

Sounds good Chris. I am about 25 miles north of Monroe and have fished it a few times in the past. Caught a few channels. I have personally had better luck at Cataract (Cagles Mill) and Raccoon. I started out with a pontoon boat fishing Lake Lemon but was having to pay $15 every time I launched and thought that was high. O personally think any launch fee above $5 is too high. Since Lake Lemon is controlled by the people that live on the lake, I figure they are just wanting you to pay all the funds to take care of their lake.

Good luck getting your boat ready.

Wow, i heard you had to pay a launch fee for lemon but 15 is too high. I may check it out but it wont be a very frequent spot for me then, thanks for the heads up on that. And i have heard great things about cataract. Heard some of the best fishing is actually to the right of the boat ramp where an old bridge used to be that they dropped into the water years ago?

I thought the lake Lemon fee was high and because I have other good choices, I have not been back in several years. The lake itself was nice and had a very defined channel meandering thru it.

I have fished Cataract a bit since it is my closest reservoir but it is a true flood control lake and in the spring, is almost always flooded. There are two ramps on Cataract. One at the State Park and one called Cunot, for the small community it is in. Both ramps, complete parking lots and some of the roads leading to them have been under water for months now. It is not at all unusual for the water to rise 40 feet in this lake and it will only drop just over a foot a day, when they decide to release water.

This is the Hwy 42 bridge in the background. It is hard to tell size but it is a big, high bridge. This bridge has been closed because water was over the road before. It appears that there is no water under the bridge now but Mill Creek runs under it and it is a couple miles below Cataract Falls.

Anyway, be sure to check the water gauge for Cataract to be sure it is fishable before making the drive.

A water level of 639 feet is normal pool so the parking lot for the ramp is about 20 ft under water right now.
