Does anyone use a black light for night fishing from the bank to help see rods? I’m wondering if it would be beneficial or whether it might spook fish.
Also wondering what you might use if you do.

The only time I worry about light on the bank is when I am lure fishing personally. I don't think the cats and carp mind too much. However I should note i am often fishing in very urban settings with allot of light illuminating the area allready. It will be interesting to see what others chime in with.

Personally I prefer red light at night.
"Blacklight" comes in two basic forms, UVA and UVB. Different bulbs emit different wavelengths. This is important to know the difference. Both are ultraviolet. Ultraviolet UVA isn't the safest light, UVB is even worse for you.

Red light is far more comforting to your eyesight and not nearly as dangerous.

Also "blacklight" attracts far more flying bugs.

But that is just my opinion.

I saw a program a lot of years ago (might have been Bill Dance) that showed a guy with a black light mounted on the side of his boat, shining into the water. And he was catching fish. of course, I have never seen any program or video of him NOT catching fish.
