might be a dumb question but would it be ok to trim /cut a few leaves from my zucchini plants as i didnt allow enough room between them and the tomato plants the zucchini is starting to crowd the tomatoes

Personally I wouldnt cut leaves from the plants unless they are dead already. Plants rely on these bigger leaves for helping the rest of the plant to grow strong. By cutting the larger leaves you might weaken the plant and reduce harvests of your zuchinni.

Just give them plenty of water and food, they will have to share now! lol
Zucs are fast growers, but the tomatoes will catch up and be fine. If you want, tie the zuc leaves back a little bit with some stakes and twine.

Jack's right. Nothing better than shade to keep the weeds away from the tomatoes.

I have trimmed a few on both my zuccuni and yellow squash with no ill effects,Just dont over do it,a few is all that I do at once ,then wait a couple weeks before trimming more. It works for me ,tho I usually only trim damaged leaves.
