Zebra mussels

    last summer i was fishing below the damn at russelville in a place where i almost allways get a couple small flatheads.3 16 ft. poles 3 14 ft.poles 40 lb. big game.3 209 reels and 1 number9 penn reels.caught 4 flats 5 to 7 lbs.got 3 really good runs set the hook and zebra mussels cut my line.no hard pull just nothing there line went slack and every thing gone.need help.any sugestions.

    no suggestions from me we have them here to and they are a nuesance you dont dare walk bare foot in the ohio river , best advice is keep a tight line off the bottom .

    If you're fishing from a boat, try positioning the boat so it's more directly over the spot so you can get a pull almost straight up, away from the mussell-covered rocks. Incidentally, that's probably why the cats are there; zebra mussel beds (or any other kind, for that matter) seem to be a good fishing place for catfish.
