Oh, yes it works. You are talking about for bait right? People catch catfish on shrimp all the time. Some use it almost exclusivly. I don't, but know people who do. They catch cats 20+ pounds on them. Shrimp also works for filling up my belly!

Here in Oklahoma they sale TV brand shrimp as bait at several gas stations. I sure the heck wouldn't eat it. On the box it says, "good eatin' too!" I always got a kick out of that.
It is a good bait if your pressed for time.

I am not a big user of shrimp. I tried it in the Illinois River a few times with no luck. My buddy and I also tried it at Shabbana Lake with no luck. The funny thing is is that my buddy is allergic to shrimp and heard it works great and had to try it. Just by touching the shrimp he started to swell up. hehehehe!! I thought it was funny:lol:

Here In New Orleans Shrimp works for salt, and freshwater, big flatheads
will take fresh Gulf-Shrimp in the Mississppi river, no need for live Bluegills. Some people will not
even go saltwater fishing without fresh Shrimp .Shrimp catches
    everything.

I've tried it marinated with vanilla and with garlic and plain. Can't tell any difference in the way it catches fish

I catch a lot of catfish on shrimp. Both blues and channels hit it. Biggest so far is about 8 lbs. Do better on shad or gills in the summer time.

I soak mine in a mixture of - 1 ounce anise oil and 12 ounces of mineral oil.
I leave it soaking for a day before use. This bait will actually outfish most other baits during the winter months on the red river that I fish, for small blues and channels. Never caught a fish over 6 or 7 pounds on it. But I'm only targeting small fish this time of year.
If I have some left over, I just put it in a plastic tub, seal it, and freeze.
