what do you think, does it work, or does it not?
Oh, yes it works. You are talking about for bait right? People catch catfish on shrimp all the time. Some use it almost exclusivly. I don't, but know people who do. They catch cats 20+ pounds on them. Shrimp also works for filling up my belly!
I've tried shrimp a couple times and did ok once and struck out once so I don't rave about it but it worked.:smile2:
i never used shrimp here in ohio myself but i hear it does...when i lived in south carolina i would castnet for shrim and use them for flounder and sandshark....lots of ppl there used them for cat in the rivers close the the bay durring the day
Works for me...add a little garlic.
I eat the shrimp and feed the fish garlic hot dogs.
Works for me!
My opinion on shrimp is simple, they taste good!!!! Ive never had any luck using it as bait!!
Here in Oklahoma they sale TV brand shrimp as bait at several gas stations. I sure the heck wouldn't eat it. On the box it says, "good eatin' too!" I always got a kick out of that.
It is a good bait if your pressed for time.
Yes shrimp works. I always have some along for when I can not catch bait fish.It has saved a many a trip.It is easy to get at your local grocery store and is not to pricey. :smile2:
I am not a big user of shrimp. I tried it in the Illinois River a few times with no luck. My buddy and I also tried it at Shabbana Lake with no luck. The funny thing is is that my buddy is allergic to shrimp and heard it works great and had to try it. Just by touching the shrimp he started to swell up. hehehehe!! I thought it was funny:lol:
Here In New Orleans Shrimp works for salt, and freshwater, big flatheads
will take fresh Gulf-Shrimp in the Mississppi river, no need for live Bluegills. Some people will not
even go saltwater fishing without fresh Shrimp .Shrimp catches
defenantly killer bait monster
Oh yea they are great bait for about any kind of fish :smile2:
thanks for all the replies guys, i'll be sure to try it out a few times!
I've tried it marinated with vanilla and with garlic and plain. Can't tell any difference in the way it catches fish
I catch a lot of catfish on shrimp. Both blues and channels hit it. Biggest so far is about 8 lbs. Do better on shad or gills in the summer time.
I soak mine in a mixture of - 1 ounce anise oil and 12 ounces of mineral oil.
I leave it soaking for a day before use. This bait will actually outfish most other baits during the winter months on the red river that I fish, for small blues and channels. Never caught a fish over 6 or 7 pounds on it. But I'm only targeting small fish this time of year.
If I have some left over, I just put it in a plastic tub, seal it, and freeze.
keep up the good work. shrimp does work fairly decent for catfish bait.
well I tried use shrimp, I don't have catch any catfish on shrimp... I guess I would switch to nightcrawler, liver, and livebait...
