i know that bass are taboo in this forum and even though i and others
still bass fish and catfish as well is a bass that low in your opinion that youve put its species in the ALL OTHER FISH CATAGORY?
you gotta be kiddin me.
i own a jonboat and i bass fish usually by bank and its really only to fill in the void while waiting for a cat to take the bait.
my point is bass are a great fish ,they are fun as heck to catch they are predators like flatheads and they put up a nice fight too.
even little 1-2 lb# bucketmouths give you a pretty decent run for the money


haveing said this look at the list of species you guys have above the all other fish.....you put carp and turtles ahead of a bass ...
now if you are that adament about bass then why did you put the
bass on the logo shirt????

use the bass for bait all you want and put em on the lower rung in your opinions.
use the largemouth as your whipping boy.LOL

at least you picked a decent fish to be jealous of.

I tell you brother if it swims and has gills I really want to catch it. I have been fly fishing alot lately and have to say that I really enjoy it. The catfish bite has been so slow this year and day after day of not catching any has really took alot of the fun out of it. I still consider myself a catfisherman but I really want to catch a steel head and a salmon on a fly rod. I wouldnt mind catching a cat on a fly rod but I have never heard of it. I like to fish for my cat at night as well and during the day I will fish for everything else.

i got a flyrod at a yardsale for 2 bucks its in great shape
i think its a walmart bought shakespeare maybe.
it has the reel but no line
i will try to read up more on the basics of the lines and tackle
and see if i can learn how to cast it.
there are guys around here catch bluegills and crappie with them and even bass,
that would be fun

Daryll, Thats just too funny bro!By the way,
We wnet to a little private pond sunday morning. It belongs to a family friend. We just went to play around really.Took along some frozen shad and were fishing ultralights w/ cut bait. Look at 2 out the five Tammy caught using cut frozen shad.
There were also several cats(channels) caught including a 4.7 lber by Tammy and a 7 and a 7,1/2 lber by me. Funny thing, this little pond might have been maybe 1/3 of achre,maybe.
(maybe these fish were trying to "improve their rep" by not hittin plastic lures?)

Tammy nice fish there I like to catch bass from time to time and I will fish for anything that thinks it is big enough to hit the hook. With that being said there is nothing better than hooking a big shark or a Tarpoon. Let me catch a catfish that even thinks it is that bad........LOL

hey darryl not to fuel your fire so to speak but they put bluegill over bass too lol i guess bait is the only reason? anyway i like to bass fish too when im bored from not catching cats which for me is all the time lmao i usually can catch bass when i try to fish for em lol and it really makes my brother mad too cause all he does is bassfish lol oh well im happy for anything i can get to shore lol unless its a snake and then again cut the rope! lol nice catching tammy! i see keith is catching stuff too these days congrats to both of you!

It's kind of funny in a way. There are threads for gar, carp, walleye,etc... but god forbid having a bass thread. Really, how many ways are there to catch a carp. I find it hard to believe that carp are soo elusive that an entire thread needs to be set aside for the indepth, technical disscusion of carp fishing strategies! lol.
Or the prized gar, a true trophy of freshwater fishing.
And as stated above the almighty turtle, a sought after leviathan of the deep. I'm sure this site is just overflowing with fisherman hungry for knowledge about the feeding habits, habitate, and all around life of the turtle.
At least on the old forum there was a thread set aside for striped bass, but I guess that offended someone or something.

DRC, i eat bass occassionally, tho i find it to be a bland taste. i don't believe that the BOC snubs our collective noses at the bass as much as the bass fishermen. i am not speaking about members of this board, but you and i, as well as everyone here, know that there are bass fishermen that think of catfishermen as skunk fishers. they are, in a VERY GENERAL sense, an arrogant, holier than thou group. the problem with accepting bass publicly is the threat of attracting bass fishers

we can catch fish from jon boats, canoes, and old rickety buckets - they have to have 1000HP bass boats that cost somewhere over 100 grand :glare:

we routinely catch fish many times bigger than their biggest, and for a fraction of the investment

no wonder they have a problem with us - they are jealous

yes there is some maybe even score or kazillions of bass fishermen that are very rude and arrogant , there are plenty of catfishermen that act like squidheads too.


i have never had the pleasure or opprotunity if you will to eat a bass
yet keyword YET! i have 5 in the freezer from 3-5 pounds each that are 2 months old. i'd like to make one more trip and then i'll have BASS THE OTHER ,OTHER WHITE MEAT. BASS ..... ITS WHATS FOR DINNER!
i have always released them as i felt they were like a prized creature that
was to be caught and looked at and released.
only after my bosses wife told my sons and i to catch all you can and keep all you want because their small pond is severly overcrowded,that i finally
put some on ice and took the fillet knife to em.

i'd love to catch a big old gar or carp as i'm sure they put up a heck of a great fight .

ive caught a few turtles by shear luck or maybe their bad luck.

i would think that most people on the boc that do bass fish aren't the
evil bassers that are portrayed as the speeding devil maycare aquatic
rumprangers that were mentioned in one of the posts above.

like i stated up above i have only bass fished maybe a half a dozen times on
my jon. i would rather take a couple different colored buzzbaits or spinnerbaits and a couple plugs and walk the bank around a large pond
and nail bass early in the am or before dusk.

I seriously doubt we'll be seeing any tournament bass fisherman joining the BOC anytime soon, they already have plenty of forums to chat on. It just seems a little odd that one species of fish is obviously looked down upon.
I dont guess it even matters, were all here for the same basic reason "catfish".

I personally have no problems with fishing for Bass, cats Salmon, you name it. It is all fishing to me. When the Bass are hitting good in the areas I fish I am a bass fisherman. When the cats are hitting good I am a strict catfisherman. When all I can catch are bluegill and redears, then I am a panfisherman. And that list goes on.

To put it in short it don't matter what is biting if I have the opportunity to just get out and go fishing I am there.

I think turtles and carp taste better than bass.(for real)When I catch one I release it,like I do bowfin.Bowfin,now there is a fighting fish.They fight so hard that people hate them for tearing up thier gear.I like to catch all fish.I also release all that I don;t use.I learned not to use small bass for bait.All I ever had bite them were great big bass.I am real glad that the Good Lord made bass fishermen.Just think how crowded we would be,if all those people and boats were catfishing.Yes sir! I am real thankful for bass fishermen.

Hey! I bass fish more than I fish for cats. Hardly ever fish for the biggest catfish in the lake, just eaters. Aint nothing wrong with bass fishing except some of the rude fishermen. :cursing:

In my oppinion there are plenty of good bass sites to visit, and Bass seem to get all the publicity!!!!
Now that leaves the Poor old decrepid Catfisherman out in the cold, so to speak, we are laughed at by these so-called glory hounds in their fast boats and fancy duds, with their fancy high dollar gear.
And from out of Knowwhere along comes the greatest thing scince buttered pop-corn "THE BOC" which Stands for = The Botherhood Of Catfishermen, not bassfishermen!!! LMAO!!! Now we catfishermen have a place to discuss or sport, thanks to Paul and the Mods!!! Just try talking about catfishing on a bass forum and see how long you stay without getting booted, my friend!!!
As for a place to talk about Bass, yes I agree there should be a place to discuss those long sleek big mouthed minnows and that would be in the "BAIT SECTION", LMAO!!!
