I bought a new 40hp(2 stroke)Yamaha(tiller) for my boat.Got to reading the specs and the 40 & 50 models feature the same bore/stroke,displacement,gear ratio, etc. The dealer said I could upgrade to the 50hp. for $700 more.He said you'd only gain 3 more mph on top end,and hole shot is the same(only the timing is different). So why spend more money for the same motor?!Something to think about before spending $$$ on a new motor.ALSO I would by the extended warranties!

About the same with the Optimax 90 and 115 hp. motors, main difference ( according to the dealers mechanic) is tuning and the $1500.00 price tag difference.
