Yes there are some good holes at both of them, but be careful navigating the river especialy if you put in at the 801 access. There are alot of rocks and shallow shoals in the river, with as much rain as we have had this year it shouldn't be to bad, but then again the rocks that are normally out of the water are just under the surface now. Keep an eye out for water swirling and churning off of the rocks that are below the surface. The pump station access is much easier to get around at. If you go back around the "point" and go back up the "big river" once you get above the dredge it's pretty clear sailing for a mile or two. Then you start getting to the rocky stuff going back to the 801 landing. Down river or up the "little river" from the pump station is wide open with the exception of some sandbars. As far as bait goes you can use everything from nightcrawlers, cut and whole shad, goldfish, commercialy made stink baits, and bream. Matter of fact if you can think it up there probably has been something caught on it there. There are also alot of white perch around and the make pretty good cut bait also. Hope this helps. Here is a website of a local guy who fishes this strech of water from idols damn near the city of clemmons to High Rock lake and seems to do pretty good.

I hear ya, me too. It seems like every time it quits and the water starts to clear up it rains and starts flooding again.
