Yup, I just don't understand why MS would keep shipping a product they knew was faulty. Mine crapped out 3 months after getting it, but haven't had any problems since. I think with the update where one can upload games to the HD helped cool the system down abit.

go to xbox .com warranty repair. enter serial it will tell you if its still got warranty left!! it should because it being red ring of death. there are some fixes but ms is best to fix it because they upgrade the chipset in it!!!!! or i will give you 50 bucks for it shipped:big_smile:

Ship it to xbox John as said, call the repair center, get a workorder going. They will email you ups shipping labels if it falls under warranty and you'll have a new one back in a few weeks. I've done it for my kids 3 times.

If everything that was posted before this doesn't work, I can more than likely have you fix it yourself if you tell me what kind of error it is getting.

I've torn apart several XBoxes, and I've seen just about every problem.

A lot of the red rings are easily repairable without sending it in. Of course, if you have a warranty, go ahead and use it. If it's expired, take it to the right person.

Opening the XBox will void any warranty you did have.

those are temp fixes!! three red rings will come back unless he chipset is upgraded which in turn gives off less heat and therefore the solder doesnt break giving you trrings

Well I seriously doubt that I have any warranty left. I purchased the xbox 360...... 2 years ago and after about 6 months, when you turn it on....you just get the red ring and nothing happens. Unable to play Halo 3 or any games at all. That really sucks too, because I gave a small fortune for it.

Microsoft is a great company. Send a letter to Customer Service. After you send in your old unit they will send you a new one for free. They want you around buying more software and paying the monthly connect fee. That is what they did for me when my Son's unit broke. Good luck.

I think the newer ones are already taken care of.
It's a high tech piece of equipment, break downs happen.
Hell, my brother's PS3 has been sent in two times already.

I know a few people who haven't had any problems with their XBox yet.
One of the guys being someone who is absolutely addicted to the console and puts 6 - 12 hours a day on the console.

And I agree, Prototype rocks!
