I have been promising the boss that one day I would build her the china cabinet that she has been wanting. Well, seemed like for Christmas this would be a good idea. Biggest drawback is that the weather has not been too cooperative, cold, high humidity, etc to be able to get the finish to dry as quick as I need it to. The main sections are done with birch cabinet plywood, all the faces and door frames are done with what I call "swamp willow". A few years ago we had a storm blow down a huge willow tree, 30+" at the base and near 40' tall. I got it drug out from where it fell and milled it into lumber. The doors for the bottom section have been glued up and will be raised panel. There will be adjustable glass shelves and lights inside. It has a golden oak stain and clear gloss poly applied. More pics to follow as the progress continues. Something else that will delay the completion, we're headed out to Lake Lewisville, north of Dallas on Sunday for a 3 day big blue hunt.

Looks like your gonna be on the good boy list for a long time.Sure she is gonna love it.What I want to know is how did you get it done without her seeing it.And how is Santa gonna get that big thing down the chimney??
All kidding aside it loks like a very nice piece of woodwork.

Really she has seen it and got to pick the stain and finish she wanted.

Yes Sir Lonnie, I would say a few extra days on water will be easily granted this coming season, that is a very nice looking piece of art. I hope you will toss up a few pics of it when it is in home and loaded with the goods, that is very nice work!

Well finally made some more progress on the cabinet and managed to get it into the house. Still have the bottom doors to finish, but nursing a hurt wrist that is most likely going to require surgery, it may be a while. Just looked at the preview and saw that the camera took a hiccup and changed the date on me. Well just took these a few minutes ago.

Nice work Lonnie, it's gonna be real nice. Hope your wrist gets better so you can finish it off soon.

Mike, I think you mis-spelled something at the end, it's fish soon, not finish.
