I have read several posts about using dog food as the main ingredient so cat food should be about the same.

Welcome to the BOC Nick. Ive used catfood for chumming, im sure it would work for bait if you can find a way to keep it on the hook.

Nick Welcome to the BOC. Make some of that bait up and give it a try. Then report back on it's success. Good Fishing.

    Knick,
Try it out on a Looper's rig. Once you get the consistancy right......it'll produce cats. Don't stop with that one though there are a whole bunch of other homemade bait recipes to be had on the BOC sight. Be a mad chemist and find the one that will knock em' dead in your waters. Welcome to the BOC.

Adding some cattail fuzz should help it stay on the hook better.

    Welcome nic,

That's what I'm planning to use...Catfood, anise, garlic, and hopefully chicken blood, if I can find it.....But I'm planning to put mine in some type of plastic jug and tie another jug to it as a floater....Throw it out and see what it brings in....You can also "inject" the paste in "tubes"(I going to use minnow tubes"....I've just got to find the right injector....I'm thinking of ordering a jerkey gun with a round nozzle on the end.....Hope this helps, DemoMan

Nick, what did you use to keep it on the hook? Did you use a dip worm or similar? I am concerned about its thickness and stickyness, so if you can fill me in, I would be interested.
