wintertime shad

    can you catch shad at all in the winter or do they go deep like other fish

    i catch them here in arkansas in winter but, yes, they do go deep. deep here on my local lakes and rivers is 20 to 25 ft. just about the length of the rope on my castnet. u can locate them along channel edges with sonar. usually just a big glob on your screen.
