I was browsing online and found some interesting facts about catfish feeding habits in relation to temperature. I found these numbers on a website about raising catfish in a pond.

45 degrees and lower-- Feed every 10 days
    45 -50 degrees-- Feed once a week
51-55 degrees-- Feed twice a week
56-60 degrees-- Feed every other day
66 degrees and up-- Feed every day

Now if these are farms numbers where they are tryign to fatten up cats, I imagine these numbers are probably close to or above the frequency at which wild cats feed.

Would you happen to have the web address?
I'm thinking it sounds like a guide on when to feed farm raised cats rather then a guide as to when cats feed.
If i remember correctly farm raised fish are fed a special diet,i believe catfish its cornmeal or something similair.
I've been to holes in the winter and caught fish on a daily basis and am pretty sure a few were the same fish caught the day earlier, even had the same hook in its mouth i left there....lol
I could be wrong about all this but would like to see the website either way.

As far as the feeding habit for a pond raised cats, yes you are right just like I said in the post, In this case the food they were recomending was live shiners as opposed to cornmeal.

I wil ltry to find the website again fo rthe address for you.

What type of bait would you use for the winter to catch blue and shovelhead catfish
