Went out in search of new water this past weekend with my Brother Troy. We hit several new places then found a place that looked very unremarkable on the map..but the fishfinder told a different story!!! I was marking large bait balls about 15 feet in the water column and just under the bait were very large ACTIVE fish....then on the bottom I was marking VERY LARGE thick arches about a foot or two off the bottom. We decided to drift over these areas and it paid off. 1st drift I caught this 42 in. long and 31 in. girth Blue weighing 45 lbs!! Then on the 2nd drift Troy caught this 46in. 36in girth Blue weighing 55 lbs!!! Mine was caught on a chunk of skipjack herring and he caught his on peice of cut mullet! Water temp was 49 degrees and the depth was 42 ft. Both were caught on Lake Chickmauga on the Tennessee River.
