Winter Gar

    Any one fish for gar in winter if so how what baits ?:confused2:

    had one hit a buzzbait a couple days ago while fishing for white bass and caught a few small ones using ckicken liver when trying for some channels

    I had one hit my bobber ehn it hit the water, scared the s*** out of me

    Mostly, big gar fishing seems to be a summer activity. I think that's because they can be seen rolling or just under the surface and feed a lot. The gar are there in the winter time, but are most likely like any other fish, looking for a comfort zone where the water temp is right. As for baits, the same ones that work in summer should work. Its just that gar aren't purposely fished for most of the time and there's not much information on their habits.
