Went fishing on the Illinois yesterday and I found a spot where the cats might be wintering! I caught two nice ones on river herring and shad. They aren't bitting real hard but you can catch them. I went to a #5 circle hook and let them bite until they hooked themselves. I was anchored in three foot of water on the edge of a 16 foot drop-off. It was in a small cove where the current wasen't so fast. If I could catch some larger shad I know shad gut would be the ticket. I am going out at noon today and might stay till after dark to see if the bite gets better after dark. Good Fishing Tom
