I am new to this site and I was waundering if any of you guys on here fish @ Winfield City Lake? The reason I ask is that I have been fishing a tournament there for the past few years that is set up really nice. It is a CPR tourney and there is some bigguns in there. I was just curious as to it being spring time and with the weather warming up and the spawn is coming on what would be a better place on a lake to fish, near rocks or on the flats? What would you use as baits, perch or bullhead? I have bought some of the team catfish double action hooks and man oh man those hooks are wicked, so terminal takle I have that setup, but bait and location I am having issues with... If there is any of you guys that go to the tourney let me know cause with it being an invitational tourney only there is not hundreds of guys out there. I will soon have pics up with what I have been fortunate enough to feel on the end of my rod...

Welcome to the usca/boc, I'v never fished there but there are members on here that have
some one will post something. The channels should be up in the rocks soon to span, I have caught them the last two weeks in very shallow water(1-2 foot in the weeds).
If your after flats the old perch is hard to beat

Welcome to the site David...Like Roger said the cats are close to spawing and you might find them on the
shore along rocks and timber. If there is a rock faced dam there I would be fishing it right now.

Of course any fresh cut baits will work or you might try shrimp or even a clob of worms under a float.

Good luck to you,and have a great holiday weekend.

Welcome aboard David. I used to fish that lake for years but it has been quit a few since the last time I was there. For the big Flatheads in there I fish live bait in thick cover or a mud drop off with cover. Like Tom and Roger said about the shallows. That would be a def. go to place. Good luck and let us know how you do.
