I just bought a Winchester Model 1200. I have been after this gun for a while, and I know it's a proven Deer killer. What I want to know is the year it was made? I have searched the web, and I can't get it. So if anyone can help, I'd appreciate it. Serial # L 628361. Thanks Andy

If it's the 1200 deer gun with the 22in bbl. and rifle type sights. It was made from 65-74. They only made 10 different styles. Most were discontinued in 83. Some were still being made in 98 and possibly still today (the defender slide action security shotgun).

Hey Will, I called the # you gave me, and they told me it was between 1964-1972. H e also went on to say they didn't have the records for those years. The gun I have has a 28" vented rib barrel. Thanks for the help. Later Andy

It sounds like the 1200 field gun-magnum (f choke 3 in chamber) or the slide action field gun (IC, M, F or Win-choke and front-locking rotary bolt)). These guns were made between 64-83.
