We usally try and catch them on small jigs with a small crappie pole down below dams when they are not running so much water. It is close to time to start catching them in water that is running it is about like sandbass fishing. I have heard of people catching them already, I have not caught any yet but when I do I will put several in the freezer for this fishing season. I do not know where they go in winter but usally summer is only time I know to catch them.

I've been catching a few below L&D 17 or Ft Gibson Dam when there is less water being released. I would imagine the same is true below most dams in the area though.

They hit whatever I am using for sandbass but hit better on smaller white jigs or grubs fished close to the rip rap. In my opinion anyway.
