if i remember correctly ,at one time they were saying that the pic was a not a channell, but i guess they just let it be , i don't think anyone has even got within 20lb of it so that in itself brings up a red flag to me. :confused2:

I don't think a 33 reel could stand the presure not with a fighter like a catfish is, you are right it doesn't look like a real catfish.:roll_eyes::confused2:

My fish aren't that big really. The world record channel cat is just that, it was caught before we had any other big species of cats in this state.

I heard that WB's record was nullified, due to the fact that it was not a channel. Sure doesn't resemble one...

Maybe it's evolution that makes Channel Cats look different today. That definitely is a funny looking Channel.

Evolution couldnt change a catfish that quickly. You are talking 50 years, that's only 50 generations at most. It would take thousands upon thousands of generations to change a species that much. Only very very slight changes can happen in a genome in a generation. But anyways, I dont think its a channel either. The giveway to me is that tail. Channels have a forked that, that looks like a flatheads tail. Actually looks like a HUGE bullhead to me, but that would be even more impressive!

Think of a male channel cat after the spawn, Then look at that picture again. Then I think the picture will look right then. As if you have seen a 10 lber during the spawn then one that size? We have caught them with heads of a 40 lb fish but only weight in at 20 lbs.

The evolution comment was just to be funny. Maybe I said it too fast.
