I was grilling last night, and since I don't smoke anymore, I gotta keep my hands busy, lol. I decided to carve a morel mushroom. I have toyed with the idea of carving these on top of some walking sticks. Anyways, this is my first one. I think it turned out cool. I'm gonna make more.

Looks real nice. My brother carved one on top of a walking stick for our mom's birthday about three years ago. She still shows it off to this day. If you get enough carved, they may even help pay for some new equipment or make great gifts.

Matt, my brother has for a long while, when he is in the mood, carved those things.

1:00 here in Ioway and my camera abilities are not good. Here is a coupla pictures of one he carved as a walking stick out of a pin oak branch.

He makes some awful nice pipes out of walnut too in case ya wanna sit down and have a smoke (of whatever) while walking.

Thanks for the compliments guys. PB, your brother did a great job on that stick. The mushroom has a nice curvature to it. I gotta make some of them for sure.

Is it cheating to use a Dremel tool? I started out with my pocket knife, but it wasn't working too good. Idunno...I think it's still whittling. I mean...Fishing with a sonar is still fishing, right? I didn't have the proper bit, either. I'ma go get me a couple of ball-cutters. They will work alot better. All I could find in my tool box was a tile cutter.

    LMAO! :smile2:
