I'm happy to shake hands with any friendly fishy that comes over the side
of the boat! I hope for flatheads and will settle for channels. Hope to meet
up with some blues later on this year. Bigger baits and different places
to fish will get me there, I think.

I'm about 50/50 blues and channels. Catch a few flat heads from time to time. A lot of times it just depends on what school is in session when I pull up. If we're on a good bite, I'm not leaving unless they are all just too small.

I fish for Flatties spring thru fall and Blues in the winter. I love catching both, but, through the whole year I always have a rod set out for Channels so I guess I fish for Channels the most.

I like to fish for them all but flatty would definitly be the chose for me unless i can get some big blues to bite. Depends on the time of the year.

Channels and Flatheads. Most of the Flatheads I caught last year were on accident though, while fishing for crappie with minnows.
Early last spring my wife and I were crappie fishing off a small bridge. I had a minnow and a bobber set up on 5' ultra light spinning rig leaning against the bridge railing. That set up was getting a crappie about every 10 minutes or so, while I was waiting for bites on that pole I was flipping a jig into some stumps and brush. I seen my bobber bounce a little and then I seen my little pole flying through the air and land in the water about 20' from the the bridge. I got a bigger pole from the pickup tied on a treble hook and sinker then tried to snag my little pole. Well after 25 minutes and alot of cussing and temper tantrums I gave up and went back to fishing. As we were getting ready to move to different spot I seen my bobber pop up about 75 yards away. I walked around to where the bobber was casted a few times and snagged it! I got the line to shore and started pulling it in, got to the fish and it was a very feisty 4lb flathead. I released him and started pulling at the other end of the line thinking it was going to be a useless attempt to get my little pole through the obstacle course of downed trees and stumps of every size, but a couple minutes later here it comes. I could not believe it. The rest of the day I held my pole and caught 1 flathead to about every 6 crappie.

Sorry I got a off topic and a little windy :embarassed: but its one of my favorite stories.
