Of the Big 3 catfish species, which is your favorite species to catch?

  1. Blue catfish - Ictalurus furcatus

  2. Channel catfish - Ictalurus punctatus

  3. Flathead catfish - Pylodictis olivaris

I love fishing for flats the most but it is about 50-50 for flats and channels. I target channels during the day and go after flats in the evening. I am not close to any water that holds blues.

I mostly fish for channels since that is what is readily available to me in my home lake. I do enjoy fishing for blues though.

The blues I catch run larger than the channels, put on a pretty good fight, especially when I get them close to the kayak. The channels put on the best display, especially when caught in shallow water. I've only caught flatheads that measured barely legal.

I Mostly Catch Channel Cats Around Here But My Favorite To Catch I Think Would Be Flatheads Although I've Never Caught One Though. Maybe That's Why Their My Favorite Because I Desire To Catch One So Much.

I fish primarily for Blues. If you keep up on tournaments they are usually won on Bluecats if all three species is available in the same body of water.Best John

The bigger the better, and that means flatheads or blues. After catching those Missouri River blues, they're definitely my favorite.

They are all fun to catch, but the flatheads are the most challanging, and by far the most tasty,
I target flatheads in the mississippi river.
Not much to catchin a blue, they just hit it like a freight train and there hooked, a flathead you have to catch,, thats the way it is around here anyway

I voted for flatheads because thats what I mostly fish for on this part of the Ohio river but I make several trips a year to deeper water on the river from about Cincinati on downriver to fish for blues.

Since channels are the biggest of the three I've caught I can only say that channels are my fav. I hope I can get some nice flatties and blues this year.

Catching flatheads is like catching dinosaurs. Every time I catch one I get all crazy. Plus, they are yummy. Bet you can't wait to get to some flathead water catman.
