I'm going to start fishing here soon and I need a new flathead rod. I used a king cat last year and it got tore all to hell. I was thinking about getting a Tiger or a Quantum BigCat, which one would you guys prefer.

If those are the two that you are deciding between then I would say the Quantum as well.

Enough said, I think the heavy action is a beast for flats.

If you are looking for durable dependability look into St Croixs there a little pricey but i have had st Croixs break after 5 years and sent them back and got new ones.

I prefer the Shakespear Tiger in Med/Hvy. VERY sturdy rod if thats what your looking for. I bought mine from Catfish Connection.

I use and will use as long as they are being made, Bass Pro Shops brand Catmaxx rods. The Quantums are nice as well but I have broken one on a fish. I have never broken a Catmaxx. Catmaxx and Ambassaduer, unbeatable combo, hehehe...

I agree, diawa beefstick. I have had rods broken, eyes windings broken, real seats broken using many different brands. I got a diawa beef stick this year and they are a good rod for the money and looks to very tough.
