Here is my problem. I haven't been having much luck recently. I have a few baits at my disposel and need to know which one is the best one to use (or rank them in order of best to worst).
    1. Nightcrawler (Canadian ones eh.)
    2. Fresh cut Skipjack (assuming I catch one, or other bait fish)
    3. Store bought dough baits
    4. Chicken gizzards and hearts
    5. Chicken livers
these are what are readily available, please advise.

    Thanks guys.

The best I can give you is to watch the locals and ask them.
I had a Funney thing happen the other day.
Went into the fridge to get the chicken livers out and there was some mold or some type of serface fungus starting to grow on them to thay went in the trash... promisted my buddys 16 year old a cat trip so we took Chicken Hot Dogs... Most bites I have had in Years Go figure.
Ok other thoughts Watch the water..... What is living in the water where you are? As for the most part where I am at some times Chicken livers do well some times Cut bait dose well some times Punch bait works well as for this time of year at my location the chicken franks are doing us well.
    Good luck..and happy fishing

with 1 being best heres my opinion of yer baits:
    1 nightcrawlers
    2 chicken liver
    3 doughbait

from the type of bait you have id say yer goin fer channel cats?

for flats id use the worms n catch live bluegill fer bait.

For down here in Texas I have the best luck on live or cut perch.

The wife loves Danny Kings. No matter which spot we fish at she catches lil ones left and right. Every now and then she'll get one a lb or 2lb.
She's too impatient to sit there and wait for the big ones which are few and far between bites.

I cured some livers and those have been hit and miss. Either their biting real good on them or more often than not their untouched.

If going with some big boys I would suggest the skipjack, as fresh as possible. Also maybe try some Gizzard Shad, they have been working the best around here from what i've heard.

It sounds funny but lately me and Chris(IrishO'Brady) have been using raw, boneless chicken breast. Cut them into decent size triangles and go to town. We get between 20 and 40 cats each time we go out. Other than that I would recommend large shad and then liver.
