So OK I have only fished with shad a couple of times.
I know a couple of places they hang out over on the mississippi but only know where they show up in numbers around our local dam on the skunk river during flooding.
I need to find them during all water conditions.
    Where do I look?

check the shallows around rocks or sand that is usually a good place to search

    Hello,

well I am not all that great at catching them either, but what works for me , I attended the DeGray Gathering, a couple of months ago, and the guys there told me about a Sabiki Rig, so as soon as I got home I bought a few of them and headed for the spill way, and they were right, I caught a ton of Shad,a 18" Brown Trout, (((released)) and some suckers,in about 2 hours,

What kind of shad will these Sabiki rigs catch? Threadfin or gizzard shad? Alewives? I have caught pinfish on them in Florida, but I never thought that they could be used for freshwater bait. This is a very interesting topic.
