Anyone know what they are doing at Alum Creek? The water level keep dropping. I went to the dam area and it seem like they are letting the water out. Why?

i believe they are getting ready for the winter....most dams will let water out to get ready for all the snow and other stuff so it doesnt get too high from what i have heard

They are getting ready for after winter when the snow melts and the spring rains begin to control flooding. They are doing the same thing at Dillion. During the winter is a great time to scout if you fish a lake. Alot of the lake's bottom is going to be exposed allowing you to take note of structure that is normally under water. In some places the original creek will be the only water left after the draw down.

That what I figure. The upper part of Alum is a river now.

Yeah, they do that every year. It's in preparation for the winter ice freeze, and then the spring thaw..assuming that we get enough snow.

I've found thats the best time to fish,,,,, the cats seem to pile up the holes for easy pickens.
