Where are the shad?

    I've have been fishin on the Staunton River and I havent been able to catch any shad I havent even seen any poping, has anybody else had this problem?

    I've been fishing the Occoquan River near Woodbridge and haven't caught nearly as many as in past years. I don't know if that's any indication of anything other than a lack of my fishing ability, though.:confused2:

    I live in ohio and our shad numbers are way down...We had a massive winter kill of shad this year.

    I think that we currently have so much water that they are up in the bushes and trees feeding. I caught some last week in the lake,but they were really spread out and didn't seem to be schooling. But you know those white perch work even better on those big flatties, so just take some worms and catch 'em on the bottom in the river and the feeder creeks.
