is ther a better bait then chicken liver and is mendota waters poluted
There's nothing wrong with the water at Mendota. It comes right out of the San Joaquin River at the north end of the slough.
Here in sunny SoCal, I've always had much better luck with cut up makerel than I have with livers, or any other kind of bait for that matter. It can be a challenge to find, but worth it once you find it.
Only caught one defective catfish in mendota and that was a flesh eating bacteria that some fish get I checked with DFG on that .
Theres a lot of farming out there and they do spray insecticides and defoliants an what nots with planes but I think they are very careful about not polluting the waters.
Good bait for cats is Danny Kings google it.
Couldent say about Mendota. For bait fresh mini macs from the bay/pier has been some of my best channel cat bait for local waters. At the river I usually use cut bluegills(for channels),there is usually plenty and they dont stink.I really havent used the liver to much.
thats a big cat. where is he from?
