I wanted to be a power company lineman. I remember playing like my little old wagon was a lineman's truck, I would play like I drilled holes but climb trees instead of poles.

My dad always told me I'd be an attorney, for he named me after a distant kin that was an attorney. :smile2:

High school drop out at 16, enlisted in USAF at 17, they sent me to telephone lineman school. :eek:oooh:

After my 4 years I never worked in that type work again.

3 generations on my fathers side were linemen/ residential tree surgeons. i -of course- spent some years doing it myself- only because it was familiar. not anymore by golly.

when i was a kid i was torn between being the first policeman on the moon, the first cowboy/outlaw to rustle cattle on a motor cycle, and a proffesional fisherman/archeologist... if i had only made up my mind before it was too late.

now i just wanna be retired.

well I first wanted to be a stunt man & then a biologist (either marine or herpetologist) then I had issues and my mom forced me into business school so I didnt get my college degree. I had also wanted to run my own kwoon (kung fu school) but my sifu moved out of state after 3 yrs of training. then I thought about marine scout sniper or mp but my political views kept me from enlisting during the clinton era. Now Im to old and gained to much weight to be able to enlist. So I fly my flag and will try to raise my daughter up to be better then we are with more oppurtunities to succeed.

when i was growing up i wanted to be a Marine Biologist. but then i realized that all they really do is go down and swim with fish and study thier insides at a little table instead of going out and catching them with a rod and reel. so i just settled for the Marine part and i am 12 years away from being a civilian again. all i want is my pesion and then maybe to be a JROTC Instructor at a high school. hey as far as i can see you cant beat that, 3 months off in the summer, get to still be a part of the military, and i am still getting my pension. sounds like a way to go to me. 20 years of that and i will have 2 pensions and be 58. yea early retirement. then i am going to be a professional river rat.

I did not have a clue what I wanted to be when I was a kid. My brother tricked me into joining the Army when I was 19. I served 20 plus years as a CH-47 Helicopter Mechanic and retired in 2005. Now work as the Senior Technical Specialist for the Army on the whole US Army Fleet of CH-47

I wanted to marry a very RICH man. Just wanted to buy whatever I wanted when I wanted it. That didn't work out so well.

Also wanted to own a cattle ranch. I didn't want to do any of the work (pay somebody else for that). I just wanted to dress like a cowgirl and ride horses all day. That didn't work out too well either.

Now, I'm like Baitchunker, I just wanna be retired!
Gotta get a job with retirement benefits first!:sad2:

I can tell ya that when I was young I did NOT want to be a mom. Now 3 kids & a grandson later, I'm tryin to figure out how to become a PAID (WELL PAID) housewife!:smile2:

In high school I wanted to an attorney (only cause I liked to debate).
Before that I wanted to be a high school history teacher.
Even before that, I wanted to design fiberglass boats (like my dad).

I decided late high school, that I didn't want to go to college for 8 years to be an attorney. I worked in fiberglass for several years and had a fiberglass repair company with my father for a couple more. For the past 10 years I have been in the foundry business.

I wanted to just farm. Dad told me he gave me an education to get away from that life like so many Dad's tell their kids.

I got a degree in Vet Medicine. Loved the life and the animals, just couldn't take the people. Something about people. I guess I am just not one of them.

Bought a Nursery and Landscape business. Enjoyed it and the work. It was like farming but with a different kind of crop. This one did me in and crippled me up.

Now I have been asked to be in movie. But it won't get seen by many people. Well the ones who download it will enjoy it.

I am like Shelia, only I want a rich woman. Nancy is fine and dandy, only she's broke like me. She has time to try again though.

I wanted to just be rich enough to hunt and fish ALL the time ,which never became a remote possibility ,but I do fish and hunt way more often now than I have been able to in the past 20 years tho so I guess all in all its ok.

I honestly never wanted anything but to be happy. Still working at it.
I never had any great aspirations or expectations, and never really excelled at any one thing.
I'm in ageement with postbeetle; people.......I may not be one either.
All the things I learned as a kid, tell the truth, don't steal, politeness, work hard, kindness.....didn't help me in any work enviorment I ever had.
I raised a mean lil sucker, so he can have success in his life, LOL.

When I was a kid I never really thought bout what I wanted to be when I grew up. I spent too much time in the creeks, swimming, fishing, and camping. Now that I am older with a family, I care about 1 thing, providing. My current job is at a Wal-Mart DC, it's may not be the greatest job in the world, but it makes what I need to provide for my family with a little extra for me to fish with. I only work 3 days a week too, so that lets me take my daughter to the lake and fish, swim, and camp like I enjoyed doing so much as a kid. To me it's those things that make a happy life, not how much you make or what you have, but if you make the best of what you do have, and have fun doing it.

From my early years I wanted to become and Agent of the FBI. I sudied in that direction and was on my way when I met this little girl and she changed my mind. Said I was needed at home. I have spent my whole career in law enforcement. Enjoyed this field and career. Now Retired.
