When the Flathead catfish slowdown...Do what I do!

    When the flathead fishing slows down in your area....do what I do. Go after some of these bad boys! The first pic is a 32 lb'er......the second pic is a 45 lb'er and the third pic is a double of 32 & 36 lbs. Lots of fun and chances are you live within a short drive of some very hot winter-time action:big_smile:

    I wish I had either of those close to me to winter fish for stripers are big fish my wife's cousin invited me in spring but my attention will be on flats no blues anywhere close to me at least a couple hour drive

    Yes rick....the blues are some great winter time action as well. Both can be caught on big ole pieces of cut skipjacks too!:big_smile:

    When the flats slow up, I just fish.... crappies, walleyes... etc.. around here..... I went to the James last winter and took my boat for the first time ever... WE Caught some PIGS!!!!! Dunno, if I will have the extra money this year, but wanna chase some big fish somewhere...rollo

    When the flathead bite in non-existant, I fish for walleyes and striped bass in the local river and fish the ocean for blackfish and sea bass.

    We just go to catching blues, maybe a bass fishing trip mixed in here and there. Usually don't hit up the flatheads again until a little before the spawn, those blues are just tearing it up in the river come spring time so we leave the flats alone until summer. May have to get an early season flathead trip in this spring.

    Man johnnie....I dont have all that new fandangled stuff....LOL All my Stripers come from about 6 different locations and at any given time of the year, you can find them at , least one of these spots.........
    1. Gallatin Steamplant, TN.:wink:
    2. Cumberland City Steamplant, TN.
    3. Kentucky Dam
    4. Barkley Dam
    5. Lake Barkley
    6. Tennessee river

    Heres a recent picture of a nice Bluecat 47.9 lbs caught on a Bluegill head. Spinning reel with 20# Mono on a catfish Ugly Stick 7'.
