When does the rush kick in?

When does the rush kick in?

  1. When the bait clicker starts clicking

  2. When the rod loads up and you set the hook

  3. When you almost have the fish in and it turns and runs again

  4. When you actually have the fish in the boat

I am just wondering at what point the rush kicks in when catching a big fish. Is it when the the bait clicker first starts going? or when the rod loads up and you set the hook? or when you get the fish so close and it turns and runs again? or when you actually have the fish in your boat? For me its when I set the hook and realize I have the fish on.

If my reel does have a bait clicker, the moment I hear it start clicking is the moment the rush kicks in. However, my reel of choice (Zebco 808) hasn't caught anything yet, at least not this time. I haven't had it that long, and my previous catch was caught on my Zebco 404...and it was a freak thing at that-I was only fishing for panfish then!!! If it doesn't, it's the moment I set the hook.

for me it's when the rod loads up and I set the hook. hopefully all goes well after that. have the drag set right and having faith in the line your using definently keeps the odds in your favor. using reliable equipment (rod & reel) will be a beneficial factor too!!:0a18:

Mine begins when that bait clicker starts. I use circle hooks, so the tension on my clicker is very tight. If something pulls hard enough to set it off, that typically means that I have a real good fish

I have had too many disappointments when just the clicker goes off. Sometimes they just pick it up and drop it and sometimes they get the bait. I don't get excited till I set the hook and know somethings on the other end:smile2: Nothing beats the sound of a clicker going in the dad of night though!

Didn't like having to pick just one. Personally, I get a rush out of all of those!

I voted the 3rd one down, but its more when i first see the shadow of the fish at the waters surface or it swirls around and takes back off.
