I grew up watching John Wayne movies, but I haven't watched too many in my "adult" life. But I still love Westerns though, with the Unforgiven being my favorite. This weekend, I took a page out of my childhood and rented The Searchers. I'm going to have to say that movie is probably now my favorite Western.

    Whats yours?

Westerns are my favorite movies. Too many good ones to pick one. Watching Maverick as I type. I hit the westerns channel daily. As for which western actor had the best backhand slap, that would be hands down, no pun intended, James Arnette, AKA Marshall Matt Dillon. His backhand slap was the equivalent of the modern day Chuck Norris roundhouse kick!:smile2::wink:

All the John Wayne westerns get my vote, never saw one I didnt like.
My fav non-John Wayne westen/cowboy flick is "The Long Riders", about the James & Younger gang, starring the Carradine, Keach, and Quaid brothers.

John Wayne is the ultimate Westerner, but High Noon rates right up there with the best.

My name is Nobody, They call me Trinity, and Trinity is still my name. Those Terence hill movies are great. I am a Sergio Leone fan. Once upon a time in the west is also a favorite.
