In the red ones, Rutgers they are very disease resistant and I like the yellow ones better, less acid, and there are so few of them around that I take what I can get. If you eat a lot of tomatoes, try a yellow variety and the birds leave them alone as they don't think they are ripe yet.

Since she *is* looking over my shoulder, I'll have to say "Mrs. Ol' Man"

You're getting old when you don't care where your spouse goes, just as long as you don't have to go along.

Tammy and I prefer - Jet Star, Celebrity, Maraglobe and Better Boy. As for cherry tomato's, I don't think you can beat Sweet 100s . We put up around 20 gal. of juice and I eat the rest.lol I could not live or would I want to, with out Tomato's!

I love the cherry tomatoes and the sweet 100's as far as the small ones go.
I like the beef steak tomatoes for my hamburgers and the big boys are real good also. To be honest, I haven't found a tomato that I didn't like, just as long as it is ripe.
I like fried green tomatoes too.

I like all tomatos but do have a fond spot for beefstakes myself. When I make salsa I will use roma and beefstakes in it really gives it a nice taste.

Romas! Perfect for salsa and cooking. I also like beefsteak and celebrity on blt's or just eating fresh out of the garden!

I've had my best luck with Better Boy. Here in South Central NC they produce right up until first frost. I start them from seeds and set them out the end of March.
I can't believe the $$$ of tomatoes in the stores. Especially when one considers how easy it is to grow them and how much better the taste is.

Never tried the sweet 100's, but have been happy with the beefsteak. Where can you buy those sweet 100's to try?

I have grown early girls for years. This year I have branched out and planted Beefmaster, yellow boy, two cultivars of Romas, pear, and two cultivars of cherry. I cant wait to start eating them. I started all my own plants from seed this year. I am still giving them away. Got a bit carried away.
