If you could only use 1, what would it be?
Thanks to the fine folks here I would have to say cut skip jack. Cut shad would be my second favorite.
use to be brim but after seeing and hearing bout all these fish on the boc ive switched to skips.
Walter your sure picking our brain on the bait for different species of catfish. For the blues I chose the skipjack. Very oily fish and the Blues love them. First choice all the way.
i would say skips with shad in second. love both for the blue they both work great
skips or shad the fresher the better...
Skips or Shad when its cold...Asian carp when its hot
yeah.....what he said.
The few blues I have caught has primarily been on large minnows or cut shad.
I don't have as much experience with blues as most of you guys, but I have had my best luck with big chunks of cut bluegill. Not much luck with anything else.
I like to use Chick livers, minnows and stink bait.
1st Skips fresh or frozen, 2nd shad fresh caught only, 3rd DK's punch bait.
Skips 1st. hands down! Bream and shad tied for 2nd. 3rd ?????????????
Skipjacks ..........gizzard shad if I'm out of skips
Skipjack or Shad parts with blood. Bluegill heads in the summer.
Pretty much only caught them on shad, gizzard or hickory. Although I did use tuna guts and fish liver of all things and caught a respectable amount of smaller fish on that.
Gill heads with cut shad a close second.
Around here I really like using Goldeye...
My favorite bait for Blue cats is fresh Skipjack, big center cut portion.
Skipjacks by far my first choice Shad second followed by bluegill
