Abu Garcias for life. I have thirty reels. A lot of older ones, some new ones. The mag elite is the smoothest reel i have ever casted.

I Have Been Using Shimanos For About 18 Years. But I Have A Couple Of Abu's And They Seem To Work Great. I Have Been Eyeballing An Okuma Baitcaster For A While. Might Just Give In And Get It. Quantum Seems To Steeping Up Their Game Lately.

I have to agree with you here. I have 30+ reels of various brands. ABU's are my favorite, however Quantum runs a close second.

for bait casters, I love the ABU's - more specifically, the trophy catfsih edition is pretty near perfect. Any 6500 series reel is darn good, but I prefer the 4 bearing models with a mid range gear ratio and a bait clicker.

I used to fish shimano spinning reels, and I still own a few (I'd never throw out a piece of fioshing tackle), but I got a Quantum Catalyst ultralight spinning reel last spring and it is fantastic. It gets a lot of hard use between fishing for American shad this time of year (Lots of casts and drag burning runs) and casting spinnners for bream in the summer-fall for flathead baits, and it's performing flawlessly so far.

I like the Quantum Big Iron reels and the Penn 320 GT2 reel.
