well for me blues, the bait i like to try and get my hands on is either a big shads head, or some kind of bluegill/green sunfish head. i was just wondering what you guys like to use for those massive kitties.

well for massive kitties i usually use whole live bluegill, but i want to try cut bluegill next time i go out,

but for the smaller ones i love fishin stink bait, last year almost every time i threw some out i would get a bite, and most were good sized channels, but the cat in my avatar was cought with a whole gill, that was the first time i cought a channel with live bait

I'm using Wicked Sticky mixed with Sewer Bait for smaller channels. This is cheaper than buying bluegill for bait for the smaller cats.

Fresh cut shad is what works the best for me. Mostly for Channels, but I've caught a fair share of flatheads on it also.

I too have never caught a Blue Catfish, and am looking forward to ending that black mark when I get home in August.

If you want Big fish, I believe you want to use medium - large bait. I have had best luck with blue gills, green sunnies, and blue creek chubs...

Leopard frogs are great for big channels!

I've read several places that chunks of Ivory Soap have been a famous catfish bait for almost a hundred years.

    Anyone ever tried it ?

    Any success with it ?

I've seen people use ivory soap. However, a certain famous BOC member makes his own soap with great success on "eaters". When he cooks them up thats exactly what they are too, "EATERS". Not very big but unmatched for flavor. I still want to try some of that shellfish flavored soap on my trapline for coons.

Bluegill heads seem to work best for me. Hoss's Hawg Bait works good also but have problems with fidlers pecking bait off.

Buying Bluegill???? 3 to 6 worms (cut into pieces) and about 30 minutes on some riprap/bridge pillers/log piles or small neighborhood pond will produce 12-15 bluegill/war mouths.....
