I caught an interesting one last night, that I was affraid to let go. It weighed 10.2 Lbs.
There was no way I was going to CPR this one.
Anybody got any clue as to what is wrong with this one?
I put it in the freezer whole.
I am going to have the DNR pathology lab take a look at it. Maybe they will have an answer.
Funny thing is I think I caught this same fish last year it was in great health and I CPRed. It has one large wisker cut short and I haven't caught any others with cut wiskers.
    What do you think?

I've caught channel cats before on the mississippi that had knots/bumps on there sides. Channel cats only for some reason, never a blue or flathead. The meat is also black under these bumps. (no I didn't eat it) A conservation agent told me it is a certain parasite that gets on the fish.

This disease seems to have the common symptoms of "black spot"
Notice "A common disease in earthen bottom ponds and lakes"
and "scratching against surfaces" which may explain the bloody fins and open wounds in some of the pics.

Hey Dave thanks for sharing this one. Was this caught in a pond or moving water? Also was the belly of the fish hanging down?

I caught it in a river, one that is actually rather clean. The belly didn't appear to hang.
Why do you ask about the belly?
