There is no "noise" in Illinois
I have only fished one river in Illinois, and that was the Kaskaskia, I really want to get down there and fish the Mississippi though
For Channels, Most farm ponds, park ponds, and lakes I've been to in Central IL
Blues, Miss. in the Alton area
Flatheads: Lake Sangchris....
LOL I hear that. It's ILL-IN-OI
I love fishing to Illinois river. It's my favorite spot and great for channels.
Where at along the Illinois? I usually cover the stretch along the Joliet area, but too much pleasure boaters get in the way. Lately I go up the Kankakee or Fox Rivers, have good luck there.
it depends but My motto is if its water fish it
You might try Ottawa and Straved Rock on the Illinois.
Mississippi River, Alton area
Baldwin lk.,Carlyle Spillway,Miss.River around Alton
Strip mines around Canton. Lived there for several years and did business with local mines and had keys to several locations. Ruined me for normail fishing. Not unusual to catch several large bass, crappie (by the hundreds), and cats in a trip.
Strip pits at Banner Marsh, and up around Astoria too. Lots of fish.
Calhoun point where the Illinois and Mississippi join together.
Mississippi river near alton for the big kats. i've also had several real good nights at Lou Yaeger lake in litchfiels. if your looking for more of pansize or eating thats the way to go. But big fish like big waters and big baits Illinois mississippi and kaskaskia are the places to go!
The strip pits around Knox County(Galesburg area) for channels, and I'm starting to like the Rock River for "bigger" fish.
I had my best luck at lake yeager near litchfield, also had some good luck at glenn shoals near hillsboro. I hear coffeen and sangchris are good for some big flats but really haven't tried for them yet.
I been to a few places around here and for me I like CrabOrchard because it is comfortable. I can sit on a bench at the edge of the water. I have the wonderful advantage of being in a relaxing place and sometimes I catch some fish.
How about the Newton CIPS lake for channel. Wow, talk about getting hammered. Especially in the fall up around the warm water discharge. You're garuanteed to catch fish, just nothing much larger than 7-8 lbs.
IOWA is the best place I have fished in Illinois
