Just curious what everyones channel cat setups are, in this format..heres mine.

    Rod: UglyStik 7' Catfish Rod
    Reel: Bass Pro Catmaxx Spinning
Line: 25lb Cajun Advantage(just incase i land a biggie, plus i get snagged all the time so I dont end up cutting my line it will usually break free instead of snapping)
Bait(s): Chicken Livers, Magic Dip Bait, Nitro Catfish Gravy
Terminal Tackle: Eagle Claw Ready to fish Catfish rigs(steel leader, swivels, slip weight). Usually with tube&spong bait holders with treble hook size 2 or 4.
Anything else: just the typical tackle box gear, a flashlight is a must for me.

Rod: 6'6" Cabela's King KAT and 6' Mitchel Roller Boat
Reel: Cabela's Salt Striker SS40 and Diawa Crossfire A 3500-3i
Line: 20Lb Berkley Fireline Crystal and/or Charcoal Berkley Solar XT 17lb
Bait(s): Whatever is working at the time, chicken liver, stink bait - (When in Rome, Do as the Romans do)
Terminal Tackle: Size 3 or 4 ballbearing snap swivel, regular catfish hooks (not sure size/brand, cannot use trebles - live in MN where it is illegal, unless it is a jig.), 1/2 oz bank sinker - 1 oz pyramid sinker, small ice fishing bobber as line marker.
Anything else: just whatever is in my tackle box that may be handy.

Welcome to the BOC Dan. If i were targeting channel cats exclusively i would use danny kings. Rig it carolina style with an 18 to 24 inch leader and peg a cigar float about 5 inches from the trebble hook.

My channel rig is an Abu 5500c3 on a 7ft MH Ugly stick, not the catfish rod. I use one of them for blues. I use Berkley Big Game solar green in 20-25 lb. You can see the line if is starts swimming off or if it twitches. The line is supposed to glow under a black light at night. I fish it Carolina rig with a 3-4/0 Eagle Claw circle sea hook. And my favorite baits are shad and liver. I have had pretty good luck with the liver on a circle hook as long as it's fresh.

    Rod: 7' king cat
    Reel: eagle claw
    Line: 15lb berkley green
    Bait(s): Chicken Livers
Terminal Tackle: Eagle claw 3/0 khales. 1-2oz egg sinkers or flat sinkers depending on the situation.

I like this setup but I'm thinking of either getting a custom rod or a ugly stik cat rod

I have so many combos that it's ridiculious..

    basicly I use

King Kat 7' in boat (8' off shore) I have 2 or 3 of every size from 6'-12'

King Kat reels (Big load and med load)

14-30 pound test (depending on conditions and structure)
ussally Berkley XL , 30 lb Big game (I've just had great luck wit this line. Have tried others but I feel are too pricey and work about same as XL.)

1.5 - 5 oz no roll sinkers (depends on current speed and depth fishing)

barrel swivel or split shot before a #3-#6 gamagatzu circle hook

    fish carolina rig mostly.

Now dont laugh but when I am night time bank fishing here is my set up!!

    13' collaspeable cane pole
    No reel
    25' of line
    50 pound stagen
Big ole slip bobber with glow stick tied to it set at 18 inches

Reason this is my favorite set up is the channels come into the sticks, weeds, and debris from lake to feed I can put my bait and line right where I want it. My wife and kids just shake their heads at me but it works!!
