what is a good reliable spincasting reel and casting rod for under or about $40. I was thinking about buying this 7ft rhino rod and a new zebco 33 that are exactly 19.99 each. I also heard about a combo called the hawg? tell me all your suggestions please.

The combo you mentioned would work in most cases, unless you are targeting big flathead, or bluecats..The 33 does not hold enough heavy line for the big boys..But for fish 15lbs and under it would do the job.

spoken like a champ Jack. Walmart has a couple of good deals on combo's and if you have a dick's sporting goods near you check there. everyonce and awhile they have a good special

Shakespear Contender is good also, has a very stout rod with a big reel. Casts really well also, it is about $30.
