Howdy there Ronald. Try some worms or pieces of bacon (don't tell your ma) for the channels, and flatheads may take little bream to catch. I'm still learning like you.

i dunno what they catch the flats on in my area.....but the channels bite good on chub, shad or chicken liver.

One bait that has worked on flats and bigger channels in my area is a fresh cut bluegill head

for flatheads i use medium sized sucker fish or bluegill, for channels i use nightcrawlers, cutbait and DK punchbait. you can never go wrong with a fresh piece of cutbait

On our river cut shad for channals and live bream for flats and not much luck with gold fish.

cut baits: shad, bream, carp, liver, shrimp, dough bait, bacon, hot dogs and numerous other things
live baits for flats include gills, carp and shad
a channel cat will eat just about anything that won't eat it lol
