what unit ? fish /gps

    Hey guys an gals ,i need to replace a loran unit that got messed up in a fire, an as they don,t make the unit i had ,i,m thinking about a fish gps unit .My question to yall is if you had around 600.00 to spend what unit would you recommend to me . I want the best unit in that price range ,thanks for the info to come .

    I liked Loran myself.
    But they have changed the GPS deal around to the public now.
    It's alot more accurate.

    They still keep moving the date out for the execution of Loran C.
    I wonder if it will ever be done away with.

    I like the loran myself in the ocean it,s just i do more freshwater fishing now an the gps is better than loran on freshwater

    I just bought a humminbird 788ci combo and love it. See thread on 788ci.

    I like my lowrance but hit the clearance racks, i paid like 900 bucks for mine and a few months later i found it on a clearance rack for around 450, the new lines had come out so the price went down. 600 should get you a pretty nice unit.

    Look at the Eagle 640C. It is setup like a lowrance unit. My Dad bought one and put on the pontoon and it is great and in that price range. It is GPS/Sonar unit.

    i bought a eagle 642c fishfinder/gps, this unit is great and only $500. i love this unit,easy setup and easy to read:big_smile:

    Check our Amazon.com. I got a Humminbird 788ci for $529 and they paid the shipping. If you want the quadrabeam transducer that's another $62.
