Im guessing your talking about muzzleloaders. I got a cva hunterbolt magnum, no need for the magnum. ITs taken its share of deer but not as many as the 06.

I BP hunt with a .54 cal Thompson Center Renegade. I bought it new
in 1978. My children bought me a new Green River barrel for Christmas
so next year I be shooting a 31 year old rifle with a brand new 1 in 72
twist barrel. It ought to be deadly with patched round balls.

I still have the old renegade T/C 50 caliber but it's been retired. It's killed a lot of deer in the 30 or so years I hunted with it. I now have a traditions pursuit pro beak open 50 caliber 1/28" with a 3X9 leupold scope that shoots 209 primers. Shooting barnes mz bullets and 2 50/50 triple 7 pellets this gun is deadly.

You're right Poppa that 1 in 72 barrel should throw a round ball dead on.I have a CVA .45 with a 1 in 66 barrel that's older than yours and will knock off a squrells head a 50 yds,it's not much good with bulletes but round balls are dead on.

I love my Lyman Great Plains 54 caliber with the round balls(1 in 66 twist). On bad weather days, it's my Thompson Center Omega.

    .50 CVA Wolf, Camo/Nickel, 100gr 777, Win 777 #209s, T/C 250gr sabots.

I've only run about 20-25 shots through it, I'm sure there is a better load. I've been getting 1 1/2" groups at 50 yards with open sights. I want to try 340gr Dead Center sabots...they were designed for a 1:28 twist.

Hey Richard, i might have exactly what you are looking for, i have a CVA e-z bolt .45 cal inline muzzleloader with a tasco 3-9 by 32 scope. I don't use it enough to actually need it and the way its lookin i wont need it this year (or at least if rifle season works out like i want it to). If your interested shoot me a PM.

I shoot a traditions 50 cal. Magnum. But I've never shot more than 100 grains of pyrodex in a load. 295 gr power belt hp. Good gun, just a pain to clean. Been thinkin about upgrading.
